SCOTTISH scientists have made a major breakthrough in the fight against cancer after finding a way to make cells 'commit suicide'.Experts discovered a protein which kick- starts a gene that normally causes cells to die i f they become too badly damaged. Cancer can 'switch off' this gene, allowing the illness to spread unchecked.
